Valeriana sitchensis, commonly known as Sitka Valerian, can be found on mountain slopes or subalpine meadows. Tiny white flowers with a pinkish hue
blossom in clusters approximately 3 inches wide.
In the summer, the Sitka Valerian produces a thin stalk which allows the flower cluster (the inflorescence) to soar above
most of the surrounding alpine vegetation.
The whole plant, including the flower stalk, can usually grow as tall as 3 feet.
